LHAASO observations of galactic gamma-ray emission and their implications on the origin of Galactic cosmic rays

Speaker Prof. Siming LIU
Affiliation The School of Physical Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University
Date March 25, 2025 (Tuesday)
Time 3:30 p.m.
Venue MW325, 3/F, Meng Wah Complex, Main Campus, The University of Hong Kong

Abstract

In this talk, I will first highlight some interesting results from LHAASO, including observations of supernova remnants, pulsar wind nebulae, and diffuse gamma-ray emission from the Galactic plane. Then I will show LHAASO measurements of the cosmic ray spectrum and mean logarithmic mass and discuss how these observations may help us explore the origin of Galactic cosmic rays.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
