Abstract

The Compact Pulsed Hadron Source (CPHS), currently under construction at Tsinghua University, will generate a yield of ~1013n/s for education, instrumentation development, and industrial applications around the year of 2013.

The progress in the design, fabrication, and engineering of the 16kW, 13-MeV proton accelerator system (ion source, RFQ, DTL), the neutron target station (Be-target, solid CH4 moderator), and neutron beamlines (imaging, SANS) since the project started in 2010 will be reported. The neutron-scattering platform also complements the larger, national projects of reactor- and spallation-based neutron sources, the CARR & CSNS currently at construction-to-commissioning stages, in user training/outreach and development/testing of devices and components. While complementing the domestic growth in neutron science and neutronics/accelerator technology, CPHS shares with the international communities the common interests in advancing the science and technology of compact accelerator-driven neutron sources and has actively participated in exchange and collaborative programs.

Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
