Abstract:

The SU(4) model for high temperature superconductivity is introduced. This is a minimal model that generalizes the BCS theory to incorporate both collective singlet and triplet pairs with pairing and antiferromagnetic interactions and the no-double occupancy constraint. The results are quite encouraging: Many properties and challenge questions of high temperature superconductivity in cuprates are getting understood, theoretical predictions agree with data quite well. The SU(4) model can also describe the recent discovered iron-arsenide superconductors, some SU(4) model predictions will be discussed.

Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
