Announcement
We are organizing an international workshop on "Novel topological states in condensed matter physics" in Hong Kong, June 22-24, 2009. The workshop will focus on the theoretical and experimental works in the field of quantum spin Hall effect, topological insulators, topological superconductors and the non-abelian states in the fractional quantum Hall effect. Historically, some of these topics have been developed independently, but a great convergence has emerged in the recent years. The workshop aims to bring together experts from these fields to discuss the unifying themes behind different concepts. A number of new materials featured topological phenomena have been proposed and discovered in recent years. The workshop will focus on new experiments to probe their topological properties.
At this meeting we will celebrate the 65th birthday of our distinguished colleague Professor Yong-Shi Wu.
You are welcome to apply for the participation of the Forum by completing the registration, and you may contact with the workshop secretary, Ms. Anna Wong at annaylw@hkucc.hku.hku.hk for further information.
