Abstract:
The lecture gives a brief description of cosmic ray discovery and main backgrounds of the theory of cosmic ray origin. In the lecture the main parameters of cosmic ray flux will be presented as well as characteristics of nonthermal emission generated by cosmic rays. We show step by step how the theory of cosmic ray origin was created and, which ideas form the basis of the modern theory. We discuss briefly how the assumption about cosmic ray production by supernova stars arose and what is the main mechanism of cosmic ray acceleration in the Galaxy.
Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar
