Abstract:
Electromagnetic fields have been a popular starting point to understand electromagnetic behavior for passive structures. On the other hand, if active devices are included, it has become common to use potentials since these variables are a key ingredient in Kirchhoff's laws. In the RF regime, it is needed to extend the scalar voltages with vector potentials. Unfortunately, iterative solving is hampered by convergence issues at ultra high frequencies. In this presentation, a solution to this problem is proposed by exploiting a transformation of variables, which lead to a mixed field-potential formulation with improved convergence properties at high frequencies.
