Abstract:
Superconducting detectors have emerged as the technology of choice for instrumentation used in radio astronomy at wavelengths shorter than 1 mm down to far infrared wavelengths. In this brief presentation, we will review the different types of detectors used in state-of-the-art instruments, including both coherent and incoherent detectors. Specific examples of each category of detectors will be discussed as well as the trend for future development of detector technology.
Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
