Abstract:
Star-formation activities of galaxies at z~0.5-1.0 can be well traced at mid-infrared (MIR) wavelength by examining their rich PAH features. The AKARI near-infrared (NIR) and MIR extra-galactic survey at the North ecliptic Regions (NEP) provides us very rich and unique photometric database, covering 2um-18um with 9 filter bands, plus supplementary ground-based optical-NIR photometries, to investigate faint MIR galaxy population down to ~<100 uJy flux level, or effectively out to z~1, based on densely sampled spectral energy distribution (SED) information and their modeling. The low-resolution slit-less spectroscopic survey was also conducted at MIR toward the NEP, providing information on spectral features of galaxies out to z~0.5. These two kinds of information are combined to reveal a new population of "PAH-selected" (ultra-) luminous infrared galaxies in which enhanced PAH features are seen. I will discuss their star-forming activities by comparing with nearby well-studied star-forming galaxies.
