Abstract:
A new implementation of the Topological Cluster State Quantum Computer(TCSQC) is suggested, in which the basic elements are linear optics, single photon measurements, and a two-dimensional array of quantum dots. This overcomes the need for non-linear devices to create a lattice of entangled photons.
I will review the very basics of Quantum Error Correction and Cluster State Quantum Computation and then introduce the TCSQC, which combines both fields. Some familiarity with stabilizer formalism would be of help. Then I will explain how we could build up the cluster state that is used as a substrate for the computation using streams of photons fired by a bank of quantum dots and non-deterministic entangling gates.
Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
