Abstract

Quantum key distribution (QKD) offers information-theoretic secure keys using quantum physics. In practice, QKD faces two primary challenges: implementation security and system performance. While measurement-device-independent (MDI) schemes enhance implementation security, the mode-pairing protocol achieves significant performance improvements, with key rates scaling as R=O(\sqrt{\eta}). In this talk, I will introduce the mode-pairing scheme and its security proof. I will also present field tests of the mode-pairing scheme over inter-city fiber links, achieving key rates of 1.217 kbit/s over 195.85 km and 3.089 kbit/s over 127.92 km without global phase locking. These results confirm the protocol's adaptability and practicality for quantum networks.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
