Abstract

3D polarization structures and grafted vortex beams have attracted considerable interest due to their exotic optical properties and potential applications. However, the conventional methods to generate these beams suffer from large volume and high cost, limiting their practical applications. Metasurfaces have shown much promise to tackle this challenge. We experimentally demonstrated various 3D polarization structures and grafted perfect vortex beams with metasurfaces. Our research findings may be of interest to many practical applications such as vector beam generation, virtual reality, volumetric displays, singular optics, and quantum science.
