Abstract

The rapid expansion of researches on perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has been driven by many favorable chemical and opto-electronic properties of hybrid organic/inorganic perovskites compounds. The growth and final properties of perovskite films are controlled, not only by the deposition technique and annealing parameters, but also by the components introduced in the perovskite precursor solution which are divided into those which will enter into the final composition of the layer and those that will help the synthesis but will be eliminated, especially upon the thermal annealing step. We will illustrate new insights that have been gained into perovskite film formation by the direct investigation of the films by NMR and by glow-discharge optical emission spectroscopy (GD-OES) combined with other more classical techniques. This research has notably revealed the occurrence of unexpected organic chemical reactions and has led us to propose a typology of perovskite film growth.
