Abstract
Decoy-state quantum key distribution has wide applications in practical implementations. Usual implementations actively prepare decoy states with the usage of random number generators and the intensity modulators. In order to achieve high transmission rate and make the decoy-state method more robust to side-channel attacks, the concept of passive decoy-state protocol has been introduced. In this M.Phil. thesis proposal, I discuss about a design to experimentally demonstrate the implementation of passive decoy-state encoding system with coherent state based on previous theoretical protocols.
