Abstract

An analysis for light charged Higgs boson in tH+b with H+ decays to c¯b is presented. The analysis focuses on top quark pair production in which one top quark decays leptonically and the other top quark decays to H+b, with H+c¯b. The analysis is based on proton-proton collisions at √s=13  TeV with an integrated luminosity at  138.9 fb-1recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Data are analysed in the lepton-plus-jets final state, characterised by an isolated electron or muon and at least four jets.

The analysis employs a neural network discriminant that uses the kinematic differences between signal and dominant background, which is the standard model top quark pair background. The neural network classifiers are parameterised as a function of the Higgs boson masses for light charged Higgs signals in order to improve the performance of isolated classifiers. Fits are performed on the neural network discriminant across all analysis regions by maximising a likelihood function to correct simulation predictions and reduce the impact of systematics. The expected upper limits at  at 95% confidence level are set on tH+b branching ratio, ranging from 0.0682% to 0.0926%.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
