Abstract
The detection of gravitational waves has paved the way to gravitational wave astronomy and opened a new chapter in the multimessenger study of the Universe. The joint detection of gravitational waves and electromagnetic emission from the binary neutron star merger GW170817 has offered a unique opportunity to probe the physics of Gamma Ray Bursts, showing the high scientific potential of multimessenger investigations. During the ongoing third observing run by Advanced LIGO and Virgo (O3) more detections are expected that will allow for a better exploitation of multimessenger observations. The talk will discuss the main results of the follow-up campaigns of gravitational wave transients and will highlight the possible perspectives and opportunities.
