Abstract

It has long been suggested that in a pulsar binary system, the pulsar wind would interact with the companion star, and high-energy emission would arise from the interaction region. The high sensitivity of the Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope has allowed us to conduct studies of this physical process in detail. In this presentation, I will show our studies of several types of pulsar binaries with Fermi/LAT, which include black widow, redback, and X-ray binaries. In the results we have obtained, we have not only detected clear signals for the predicted intrabinary interaction, but also seen different phenomena, likely having an intrabinary origin but needing further observational investigation or theoretical studies.

Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
