Different Metal Oxide as Electron Transporting Layer in Organometal Halide Perovskite Solar Cell

Abstract:

Organometal halide perovskite solar cell has gained its popularity with highest efficiency approaching 20% in the frontier research compared to other low cost flexible photovoltaic like polymer solar cell. This is attributed to the good optoelectronic properties of light harvester, including long charge carrier diffusion length and high absorption efficiency. The solid state perovskite solar cell evolves from dye sensitized solar cell which utilize TiO2 compact layer as photoanode and TiO2 mesoporous layer as scaffold. However, researchers later found that mesoporous layer is not essential to high efficiency. Currently, that perovskite film is sandwiched between electron transporting layer (ETL) and hole transporting layer (HTL) is recognized as the standard device structure. Although TiO2 is the traditional ETL, it has the disadvantage of requiring 450°C to form anatase. Some research groups have adopted ZnO as a replacement for TiO2, and few people have tried Indium oxide or Tin oxide. In this seminar, comparison between different metal oxides in synthesis process and performance will be addressed.
