Abstract

Because of its high length-to-diameter ratio, single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) is generally treated as one-dimensional system. It shows either metallic or semiconducting depending on its geometrical structure. Raman spectroscopy, as a nondestructive method, is widely used to study its vibrational properties as well as electronic properties.

In my talk, I would like to report result of our ultra-low frequency Raman spectroscopy experiments, which origins from single particle excitation processes and reflects the 1-D energy dispersion relation of SWNT. We also use Rayleigh scattering based reflectance spectrum supplemented with resonant Raman spectra to characterize our sample.
