Abstract

Surrounding every electrically-active material is a zone of enhanced electromagnetic noise coming from leakage of photon modes into the vacuum. This creates problems for qubits situated near metallic objects, as happens in many Qubit architectures. I show results for decoherence times for charge and spin quantum-dot qubits near metallic gates. Particularly for the spin qubits, this effect can be a limiting factor on the operating speed.

Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
