Abstract

The Kondo effect is a many-body phenomenon arising from the screening of a localized spin by conduction electrons. In last decade, the Kondo effect is intensively investigated in mesoscopic systems due to the highly controllability. Recently, the quantum criticality driven by the competition between the Kondo correlation, spin-exchange interaction, and superconductivity is observed in mesoscopic systems. It would deepen our understanding on the quantum phase transition in strongly correlated electron systems. I report the Kondo effect in carbon-nanotube quantum dots attached to ferromagnetic leads and the Kondo effect of magnetic adatom on graphene and its scanning tunneling spectroscopy.

Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
