Abstract:

Recently, tungsten oxides nanostructures have been paid close attention for their interesting elec-trochromic, optochromic, gaschromic and electronic properties.

To improve the uniformity, we have developed a new synthesis process: two-stage heating process of thermal evaporation. The extra heating stage, comparing to traditional method, allows droplets of potassium hydrate (KOH) to distribute more uni-formly on the substrate surface. In turn, this ensures smaller diameters and better uniformity of the synthesized nanostructures.

Using this new process together with the traditional method, we have successfully synthesized several kinds of tungsten oxides nanostructures. We have also thoroughly characterized their compositional and structural properties and proposed their growth mechanisms.
