Abstract

Ever since the discovery of pulsars several decades ago, there has been a large amount of work dedicated to understanding how pulsars work. Up to now, however, some of the fundamental puzzles still remain unsolved. Recently there is a resurgence of interest in this field, focusing on direct numerical simulations of the pulsar magnetosphere. In this talk I will try to describe some of the pulsar puzzles and how we attempt to solve them using Particle-in-Cell simulations. I will try to demonstrate how the simulations put to test some of the old pulsar theoretical models, as well as giving new insight to the mechanism of pulsars.

Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
