Information for Visitor


VISA Application

Unless you have a close connection with the HKSAR by birth or long period of residence in the Region (details refer to here), you are required to get a visa or entry permit before travelling to the HKSAR.

You may apply for the appropriate visa or entry permit from the nearest Chinese diplomatic and consular mission.

Transportation

The Department of Physics locates at Chong Yuet Ming Physics Building (CYP) in HKU main campus.

(A) Public Transportation to HKU Main Campus

There are different buses and mini-buses that can take you to the campus in the following routes:

(B) From Airport

Take the Airport Express to the Hong Kong Station. It takes about 23 minutes and costs around HK$100 (about US$13).
Then take a taxi to CYP. It takes about 10 minutes and costs about HK$40 (US$5). Or you may get to any MTR station as stated above in (A) from the Hong Kong Station, and then reach the East Gate or West Gate of HKU main campus through public transportation. To help the taxi driver or yourself to locate the building in HKU main campus, you may download the map here.

(C) From Train Station

If enter Hong Kong by train, you should have reached either "Lo Wu" or "Hung Hom" as your first station. If you are at Lo Wu, take MTR train to Hung Hom, and then get to East Gate by bus no.103 as stated in (A). Or you may get to any MTR station as stated above in (A) from the Hung Hom Station, and then reach the East Gate or West Gate of HKU main campus through public transportation. If you would like to take a Taxi after MTR, either the Central Station or Sheung Wan Station should be a good choice.
