Abstract

The multi-messenger, time-domain astrophysics is one of the most active research fields in contemporary astrophysics. Prof. Zhang will introduce the recent developments in this vigorous field, highlight several exciting topics, including gamma-ray bursts, electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational waves, as well as fast radio bursts, and discuss upcoming new opportunities to make breakthroughs in these directions.
 

Biography 

Bing Zhang is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the Founding Director of the Nevada Center for Astrophysics, and an elected fellow of the American Physical Society. He is a theoretical astrophysicist with broad research interest in the field of multi-messenger, high-energy, time-domain astrophysics. He has published more than 550 papers in refereed journals, including more than 35 published in Nature, Science or associated journals. He is one of the most cited scholars in his field with an h-index more than 100 and was listed among the top 5 of Highly Ranked Scholars in the field of Astronomy during the prior 5 years by ScholarGPS in the year of 2022.
