Abstract:

NASA Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer satellite has shown many discoveries in neutron star and black hole binary systems, e.g., kHz quasi-periodic oscillations (QPO) and spin frequencies of the accretion-powered X-ray pulsars, which provide an exploration of the Einstein strong gravity effect close to black hole or neutron stars. The recent progresses are reviewed, and the formation mechanism of millisecond pulsars are introduced.

Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.
