Abstract

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2017 is awarded to the detection of gravitational waves. In this talk, we will give a brief overview of the physics and the experiment. The first part of talk will introduce the ideas of gravitational wave and its basic properties. The second half of the talk will focus on the recent detections of gravitational waves and discuss the physical implications.

Coffee and tea will be served 20 minutes prior to the seminar.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
